PURPOSE:To make the surface of a paste applied glass substrate smoother by vibrating the glass plate after applying the paste prepared by kneading raw material powder mixed with a thickener to the surface of the glass plate. CONSTITUTION:A layer is formed on a glass substrate 1 by applying paste prepared by kneading fine CdS powder mixed with a flux composed of CdCl2 and thickener composed of PG to the surface of the substrate 1. Ultrasonic waves 28kHz in frequency are given to the substrate 1 for five seconds by bringing the horn of an ultrasonic oscillator using a piezoelectric vibrator into contact with the outer end face of the substrate 1. As a result, recessing and projecting sections formed on the surface of the paste in the form of the mesh of a screen are reduced as compared with the surface before vibrating the substrate 1 and, at the same time, bubbles which may cause pinholes are removed from the paste. Therefore, the surface of the paste can be smoothed. In addition, after forming a sintered CdTe layer 3 on a sintered CdS layer 2, a carbon collecting electrode layer 4 is formed on the layer 3. Finally, a group II-VI compound solar battery is formed by respectively forming a positive electrode terminal 5 and negative electrode terminal 6 on the layers 4 and 2. |
