<p>A method and feedstuff for the production of eggs having an increased omega-3 fatty acid content. The feedstuff contains from 1.5 % to 2.5 % by weight of fish oil or oils, with the oil having at least 20 % by weight of its combined fatty acid content in the form of omega-3 polyunsaturated acids. The feedstuff also contains from 1 % to 4 % by weight of linseed oil and an effective amount of antioxidant such as ethoxyquin and/or vitamin E. Eggs produced by feeding the feedstuff to laying hens have produced eggs having an excess of 400 mg of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid in a 55 g egg.</p> |
