<p>PURPOSE:To discharge a waste water into the natural waters by treating the waste water contg. hydrogen sulfide and/or ammonia with an active carbon with the pencil hardness, pore diameter, specific surface, pore volume, etc., specified and consisting of a carbon crystallite and a sparingly graphitizable carbon. CONSTITUTION:A specified active carbon is used to treat a waste water contg. hydrogen sulfide and/or ammonia. Namely, this active carbon has a cross-linked lattice in the void of the carbon crystallite, has B to 6B pencil hardness, 100-400Angstrom pore diameter, 150-500m<2>/g specific surface and 1.3-5.0ml/g pore volume and consists of a carbon crystallite and a sparingly graphitizable carbon. The active carbon is packed in a tank 2 on the downstream side of a sand basin 1, the waste water is injected from the lower part, gradually moved upward and allowed to overflow. An aeration tank 3, plural settling basins 8a...8c, plural filters 10 and 11, etc., are successively arranged on the downstream side of the tank 2.</p> |
