<p>PURPOSE: To provide a parallel glass strand mesh which is deformable without shifting composing strands and suitable for the reinforcing material for fiber reinforcing composite material. CONSTITUTION: Rovings 10 having >=300 Tex fineness consisting of continuous glass fiber filaments having a >=10×m average diameter are disposed parallel to one another in the same plane. The rovings are bound to one another by polyester fibers disposed transverse to the rovings at an interval of (d) in a closed stitch chain stitching 11-weaving method to form a mesh fabric of a parallel strands in which each stitch bonded roving 10 has >=about 5mm interval to an adjacent roving. The polyester fiber has a modulus of elasticity lower than that of the rovings and a melting or softening point higher than those of a thermoplastic organic binding agent. The mesh fabric has a pivotable plane on the chain stitching 12 as a hinge forming an angle a relative to an original plane without causing pleats or ripples. Therefore, at least two layers of the mesh fabric adhered with a polyester binding agent havingα40-130 deg.C melting point are deformed to a prescribed shape and impregnated with a matrix resin to form a composite material.</p> |
