PURPOSE:To provide a nitrogen oxide sensor excellent in heat resistance, heat shock resisntace, response to NO and NO2 gas, and stability which can operate at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes are formed on the surface of a solid eletrolyte, e.g. zirconium oxide added with an oxide as a stabilizer. At least one electrode is made of a mixture produced by adding 1 to 20wt.% of the aforementioned stabilizer to a metal nitrate. Alternatively, it is made of a mixture produced by adding 1 to 50mol.% of calcium carbide to a metal nitrate. |
