A paper machine drying section saving space and minimising paper breakage

A paper machine drying section comprises drying groups (1',1'', 1''') wherein the paper strip, sandwiched between at least one endless drying strainer (3',3'',3''') and heated drying cylinders (5,5',5'',5'''), is led alternately through changeover rollers and the drying cylinders. Only one side of the strip comes into contact with a drying cylinder as it crosses from one drying group to the next. Here, the last cylinder (5',5'') of one drying group (1',1'') is located at a small distance from the first cylinder (5'',5''') of the following group (1'',1''') and the paper strip runs directly from last (5',5'') to first (5'',5''') cylinder.
