To carry out the method, tubular blanks (2), from which containers to be filled and closed are set up, are stacked in flat condition inside a magazine (3), so that they rest onto supporting bars (17). The back edge of the lowermost blank (2) of the stack is engaged by a pair of lugs (10) mounted on the outer surface of a belt conveyor means (8) situated under the magazine (3). The lugs (10) protrude upward beyond the rest plane defined by the upper surfaces of the supporting bars (17). The lowermost blank (2) is stripped by passing it through a passage delimited by the supporting bars (17) and stop means (18) situated above the bars and aimed at stopping the blanks (2) of the stack situated above. The same belt conveyor means (8) carry the withdrawn blank (2) through following working stations.
