PURPOSE:To efficiently produce by a simple operation a fiber-reinforced refractory structure having high mechanical strength and spalling resistance even in a rectangular or cubic shape. CONSTITUTION:A yarn bundle 1 twisted at 6-30 times per (m) is impregnated with a binder such as a thermosetting resin and a yarn bundle 5 impregnated with the binder is wound on a rotary drum 7. In the operation, the yarn bundle is wound in a meshed state on the rotary drum 7 while moving the yarn bundle 5 impregnated with the binder by a traverse roller 6 reciprocating along the direction of the shaft of the rotary drum 7. When a winding angle theta 1 from the rotary drum 7 is 45 deg.<theta1<=85 deg., plural warps and plural wefts are crossed at a crossing angle theta2 of 90 deg.<theta2<=170 deg. at different positions. The wound yarn bundle is embedded as a reinforcing material in a refractory, molded and baked to give a fiber-reinforced refractory structure. Since the embedded reinforcing material shows anisotropy, reinforcing properties in the direction of orientation of an acute angle part can be strengthened at the crossing parts of the reinforcing material. |
