PURPOSE: To reduce communication, in a high speed communications system, between a high speed circuit and a low speed circuit by executing frame adjustment in the low speed circuit. CONSTITUTION: A high speed communication system 32 is provided with a serial/parallel(S/P) converter 38 for arbitrarily converting a serial data stream into a parallel data stream. A pattern detector 44 connected to the S/P converter 38 detects a prescribed pattern from the parallel data stream and generates a signal in response to detection of the prescribed pattern. An aligner 42 connected to the detector 44 generates a parallel data stream adjusted in response to the generated signal.
