NONAQUOEUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery in which the capacity which a negative electrode plate originally has is sufficiently extracted by forming a strip of manganese dioxide with low activity and continuous in the longitudinal direction in a face of a positive electrode plate wherein the face is brought into contact with a negative electrode plate and a separator. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a coiled electrode body prepared by coiling a strip of a negative electrode plate having a light weight metal as an active material and a strip of a positive electrode plate having manganese dioxide as an active material; the positive electrode plate is so composed as to have a strip-like continuous part of manganese dioxide with low activity in a longitudinal direction on the face contacting with the negative electrode plate and a separator and an aiming nonaqueous electrolyte battery is thus provided. In the battery, reaction between the negative electrode plate and the strip part of the positive electrode plate facing to each other is inhibited and the negative electrode active material in the part facing to the strip part is not consumed and remains. As a result, electric communication is maintained until the discharge reaction of all the active materials composing the negative electrode plate and a negative electrode current collector lead plate is finished completely.
