The motor vehicle has a front (7) and a rear body (9). The rear body is moved from its operational position behind the front body into its inactive position above the front body. The rear body is moved about a pivot shaft which extends across the front body. A toothed ring segment, coaxial to the pivot shaft, is positioned on front or rear body. A motor-driven toothed gear positioned on the other body, meshes with the segment for the pivot movement. The rear body is fastened to the pivot shaft via a cable.
