摘要	The hydraulic damper has a hollow piston rod for weight saving. The end of the rod is provided with an external thread (19) for the fastening nut (21) which secures the damper to the mounting. The hollow end of the piston rod is sealed with a plug (9) which has an outer profiled shape to provide a grip for a securing tool while a second securing tool is used to tighten the mounting nut. The plug has a cylindrical bottom end to locate inside the hollow piston rod and a shaped middle section. The end of the piston rod is cold forged around the plug to provide a secure seat and to prevent the plug from rotating while the mounting is being secured.
