<p>(1) A process for producing a pure organophosphorus alkyl ester compound represented by general formula (1), which comprises esterifying a reaction mixture formed by the reaction between a dichlorophosphine derivative and (meth)acrylic acid with a lower monohydric alcohol, and purifying the formed reaction mixture through neutralization with an alkali metal hydroxide or an alkaline earth metal hydroxide in the form of a solid or an aqueous solution thereof; (2) a process for producing a pure organophosphorus hydroxyalkyl ester compound or a solution thereof in an alkylene glycol, which comprises conducting transesterification between the pure organophosphorus alkyl ester compound obtained by the above process (1) and an alkylene glycol; (3) a reactive flame retardant comprising the pure organophosphorus alkyl ester compound obtained by the above process (1); and (4) a reactive flame retardant comprising the pure organophosphorus hydroxyalkyl ester compound or the solution thereof in an alkylene glycol obtained by the above process (2). The process (1) is easy to conduct and provides a high yield because the reaction product is purified in a liquid state. The obtained pure alkyl and hydroxyalkyl esters are free from the problem of discoloration when used as a comonomer component of a polyester resin. Therefore the reactive flame retardants (3) and (4) comprising these pure esters are suitable as reactive flame retardants for polyester resins and so forth.</p> |
