SEPARATION OF MICROORGANISM

PURPOSE:To obtain a microorganism for a conversion process in a tow phase system by culturing microorganisms in a tow phase solution composed of an aqueous medium not containing a carbon source and an alicyclic hydrocarbon containing a hydrocarbon substrate, coating a plate culture medium therewith and culturing them while supplying the substrate. CONSTITUTION:Microorganisms are cultured in a two phase solution composed of an aqueous medium not containing a carbon source and an alicyclic hydrocarbon such as decalin and tetralin containing a hydrocarbon substrate. After application of this cultured solution to a plate culture medium, the microorganisms are subsequently cultured while further supplying the substrate thereto and the objective microorganism capable of converting the substrate contained in an organic solvent in the presence of the organic solvent is separated.
