The signals from the communication exchange are transmitted via connection points to a monitor. A signal control (MST) receives the exchange (VA) signals (M) and scans a signal memory (MSP) for data pertaining to the respective signal for automatic connection to a service point. The data (O) for a signal determine its further processing. The memory also stores text references (TM) for respective text recall for fault or interference determination. The control instructs a connection control (VST) only when the data from the memory fulfil the necessary conditions, assisted by a call number memory (RNS).
