Automatic correction of print position on sheets

The continuous printing process handling cut sheets, e.g. rotary printing, involves measuring the position and parallelism of the printed images relative to the sheet edges and then applying corrections. Tolerances and reference values are determined prior to printing and during the set-up phase measurements are made automatically. The difference values are used by a controller to operate the servomotors to eliminate the variation. Edge markings are used to determine the settings.
