Grip for stack of sheet material

The grip grips the stack of sheet material (10) between two grip bars (2, 3) each fitted with rows of grip fingers (5, 6). One or more servo drives (4) are fitted to the rear of one grip bar (3) and operate cable pulls (8) which are threaded through the grip bar and whose other ends are secured to the other grip bar. The cable pulls run between the grip bars in the direction of the grip force. A simple servo drive comprises a cylinder with the cable pulls operating against return spring pressure. The grip bars are slightly elastic to provide an even grip over the width of the stack. The stack can be taken from a larger stack supported on a vertically adjustable supply platform.
