TIRE WITH IMPROVED ROLLING RESISTANCE

PURPOSE: To improve rolling resistance while maintaining tractive force by forming the ground contacting portion of a tread from a polymer blend containing reinforcing thermoplastic polymers which account for a specific range in tread rubber, and providing the polymer blend with a specific range of modules by a specific proportion and a specific range of impact resilience. CONSTITUTION: A tread 44 is formed including a tread base 42 and a tread portion 38. The tread portion 38 is formed including a polymer blend which, in addition to conventional tread compound polymers, contains 2-15 phr thermoplastic polymers. The polymer blend has a 50% modulus of 1.3 to 2.5 and a impact resilience of 70% to 75%. This improves rolling resistance while maintaining tractive force.
