PURPOSE:To provide a testing method for the normality confirmation of the each device related to the speech path of an ATM exchange executed without affecting on subscribers. CONSTITUTION:The present status of the facilities of a device to be a testing object is updated at the time of the increase and decrease of the facilities which are enforced in the process of the rise and the operation of an ATM exchange. Testing times and testing items are set according to devices. When the testing times come, a testing data generator 15, the operation state of each terminating device to be a testing object at the time and the connection state between the testing data generator and the terminating device of a classification are judged. At the time of an empty state, a device having the only active system or the reserve system of a bi-directional path of a loop back between the testing data generator 15 and the terminating device is connected between the both of the systems, the reception confirmation of the transmission/ reception of testing data and received data is made to be performed by the testing data generator, the propriety of the device is decided according to the result, and a display is performed in the case of badness. After the testing of the device is terminated, the emptiness detection of the next device is shifted and the same test is repeated till all the devices to be testing objects are completed.
