Sewing machine automatic fabric feed has a clamp system with a pair of clamps operated by the rotary movement of arms and a press unit moved in one direction. A fabric positioner is at the fabric clamping plates with a movement mechanism to shift the fabric clamp on a defined path from the fabric feed position at a holding plate and fabric press unit. The fabric is held in place at the setting position by a press unit. The automatic fabric feed (1) into a sewing machine has a fabric clamp system (2), to clamp and release the fabric. It has a pair of clamps (21), which are operated by the rotary movement of at least one of two clamping arms and support the clamps at their center. A fabric positioner (8) is at the fabric clamping plates (82,83), with a movement mechanism (5) to shift the fabric clamp on a defined path from the fabric feed position at a holding plate (4) and fabric press unit (3). The fabric is held in place at the setting position by a press unit (31), which supports it against the holder so that it is either at the movement path of the fabric clamp or displaced from it. The fabric press unit (3) has a pair of holding arms (32) to carry the press member (31) at both ends, to give it a swing movement in relation to the clamping plates (82,83). A drive for the press member shifts it to and from the fabric setting position and the opposite side, through the movements of the carrier arms, at a gap from the movement path of the fabric clamp (2). The movement mechanism (5) for the fabric clamp (2) and the drive of the press member (31) move the fabric clamp of press member simply in one direction at right angles to an arbitrary selected axis.
