Where the top part (37) of the articulator (1) is detachable and only the bottom one (35) is used, the tool-holder (55) pivots on the latter's hinge axis (5). The hinge can incorporate ball-heads (36a) on horizontal bosses, the heads fitting detachably in recesses in the ends of a transverse support on the holder. The support can be telescopic, the recesses being conical, while the telescoping portions are spring-loaded against the hinge components. The support may have two links (56,57) behind each other in the longitudinal direction.
