PURPOSE:To provide a spindle device which can eliminate the necessity of managing a gap between an end face of a tool holder and an end face of a spindle shaft so that the interchangeability of tool holders is satisfactory, and which can enhance the tool holding stiffness. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 33 formed therein with a fluid passage 34 communicated with the outside is fitted, with a fitting margin, onto the outer surfaces of small and large diameter parts 30, 31 which are formed on the outer surface of a spindle shaft 1 having a tapered hole at an axial end. Meanwhile, the root part of a tapered shank of a tool holder 3 is formed thereon with a flange part 3f having a diameter larger than that of the tapered shank 4. When a fluid pressure is effected in the fluid passage 34 of the sleeve 33, the sleeve 33 is made to abut against the flange part 3f of the tool holder 3 fitted on the spindle shaft 1, and after the fluid pressure is relieved so as to fix the sleeve 33 to the spindle shaft 1, thereby it is possible to support the tool holder 3 with a high degree of stiffness. |
