PURPOSE:To unnecessitate a processing imparting a defined label and to calculate feature amount in short time by integrating the labels of connection areas having a connection relation and imparting the integrated label to the extracted connection area. CONSTITUTION:A control part 3 inputs a binary image that a gray level image is binarized every line, extracts a connection area from the binary image and decides whether the extracted connection area has a connection relation with the connection area of a previous line or not. A temporary label buffer 5 imparts a unused label to the extracted connection area by referring to a unused label buffer 4 when it is decided that they have no connection relation by the control part 3. When it is decided that the extracted connection area have the connection relations with a connection area or more, the labels of the connection areas having the connection relations are integrated, the labels which become unnecessary as the result of the integration are defined as unused labels and they are stored in the unused label buffer 4 and the integrated label is imparted to the extracted connection area. |
