PURPOSE:To provide a display of high brightness, high quality and high density by improving a numerical aperture and a phosphor area and further realizing a stable auxiliary discharge. CONSTITUTION:Discharge space 9 is formed between a surface plate 1 and a back plate 2. A plurality of anodes 3 and a plurality of cathodes 4 are formed respectively in a side of the back plate 2 and in a side of the surface plate 1, so as to be almost orthogonal to each other, and a phosphor 6 is applied to a side of the discharge space 9 of the back plate 2 so as to expose partially the anode 3. The transparent third electrode 8 consisting of ITO is set up so as to interpose a transparent dielectric layer 8 between the surface plate 1 and the cathode 4, and a partition 5 for supporting the surface and back plates 1, 2 is set up in a side of the back plate 2 so as to form the discharge space. The surface and back plates 1, 2, thus obtained, are combined and sealed to seal the inside with rare gas. |
