The secret code recording involves using unit in the form of a pocket calculator with a slot at the end to allow insertion of the transaction card. The unit has a key pad (10) to allow the user to enter a secret code and a display (12) that shows the secret code for the card inserted in the unit. The code for the card is displayed only if the code entered by the user corresponds to a previously stored code that activates the unit. A microprocessor stores the codes and controls reading of key pad, transaction card, validation of codes and display of code. The microprocessor also times the display interval to ensure the code is not accidentally left on display. An audible alarm is activated after a time delay when the card is removed from the unit, reminding the user to recover and re-insert the card. |
