Sensitive photographic material comprises a support having deposited thereon by vacuum deposition superimposed contiguous layers of a silver halide and an alkali-metal halide such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride or potassium bromide. The alkali-metal halide may be above and/or below the silver halide layer and increases the speed of the latter. The material is exposed, developed and fixed in the normal way. Supports specified are glass, casein-clay-coated paper, pigmented poly(vinyl alcohol)-coated paper and polyester film base.
