The container (10) is equipped with a battery charger (18), a safety mechanism disarmer (18) and a remote control programme input (20).All of these are fixed to the container while the torpedo (12) is stored and during its transfer to launching position, and separate automatically from the torpedo at the moment of launching, e.g. by means of a detachable pin or spring clip or, in the case of the remote control programme input connector, a fork with an inclined surface which lifts the connector from its socket on launching. The container is also equipped with a compressed gas source and a launch valve which lifts the torpedo from the container when opened by releasing a spherical element (14) held between two jaws.
