摘要 |
PURPOSE: To form a retardation layer reduced in weight and thickness by disposing a liq. crystal polymer between substrates of a specified thickness. CONSTITUTION: A liq. crystal polymer is disposed between glass substrates including at least one glass substrate of 20-500μm thickness to form the objective retardation layer. Since the liq. crystal polymer has higher mechanical strength than a low molecular material, glass substrates of 20-500μm, preferably 30-100μm thickness may be used in place of thick glass substrates. The liq. crystal polymer means liq. crystal glass and a cross-linked liq. crystal polymer besides the liq. crystal polymer. The top of the thin glass substrate may be coated with a polyimide orienting layer in a proper direction. The orienting layer is then hardened and rubbed. The liq. crystal polymer may be disposed between glass substrates with separate polyimide orienting layers. |
