PURPOSE:To provide a marking reader capable of realizing manifestation of the marking, making illumination efficient, miniaturization of the marking reader, simplification of forming a light guide assembling, and the like. CONSTITUTION:A marking reader is provided with a glass plate 6 positioned directly above a reading hole 3, a medal 7 carried above the reading hole 3 by sliding on the glass plate 6, a light guide 8 capable of casting the illumination light to the above glass plate 6 with a predetermined angle within 5 to 15 degrees from the circumference of a circle concentric to the medal 7 at the reading hole 3 and constituted in a ring shape, and a plurality of LED 9 arranged nearly in ring shape and projecting illumination light through the peripheral part of the light guide 8 at the moment of arrival of the medal 7 to the reading hole 3. Owing to the projection of the illumination light, the marked surface of the medal 7 of which mark 7a is specially manifested, is picked up by the below CCD, and real or false of the medal 7 is judged accurately and speedily. |
