IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO FUSES

A vehicle fuse (5) comprises a transparent plastics housing (6) and a terminal element constituted by two conductive terminals (7) interconnected by a meltable link (8) within the housing (6). An indicating element (9) within the housing (6) is formed with a hooked projection (15) which engages below the meltable link (8), and a curved leaf spring (17) which is compressed by engagement of the projection (15) below the link (8) in the normal position (Fig. 3). When the link (8) melts due to a current overload, the projection (15) is released and the indicating element (9) is moved upwardly by the spring (17) so that it projects through an opening (14) in the housing (6) (Fig. 7), thus indicating that the fuse has blown. The gripping surfaces (10) of the indicating elment (9) can then be grasped so as to enable an upward force to be exerted on the fuse (5) in order to remove the fuse from a fuse holder. Thus the indicating element (9) both indicates that the fuse has blown and also provides a means by which the fuse can be removed from the holder.
