The heating boiler is provided with a combustion chamber (7), to which primary air is supplied from a grate (5). At the transition to the smoke gas flues (13), a post-combustion chamber (10) is present, which is supplied preheated secondary air. The secondary-air duct (27) is situated in the inside of the combustion chamber (7) and is guided along the charging door (8) to an air inlet nozzle (20). As a result, heating of the secondary air takes place to a temperature which lies above the ignition temperature of the uncombusted residues in the smoke gases in the region of the post-combustion chamber (10). As a result, a better efficiency and an extensively residue-free combustion as well as a relatively low waste gas temperature on leaving the heating boiler are achieved. <IMAGE>
