Ballast arm for ships and boats

The ballast arm is pivoted and telescopic. It is fixed to the ballast and can be moved. The ballast arm (11) may have auxiliary joints and side arms (14). The ballast arm can be moved by a motor, winch rigging or a line. There may be several arms moving the ballast body at the same time. A ship may be fitted with one ballast arm or with two, one each side. Ballast arms can be extended on both sides of the ship to different lengths. E.g. a port ballast arm can exert counter-pressure on the leeward side, while the starboard ballast arm exerts a gravity force on the windward side. In an emergency, the ballast arm can serve as a rescue device.
