A repetive learning function is added into a microprocessor included in a cassette player. This function enables any part of a tape to play repetitively and lowers the size and cost. With the microprocessor detecting the using reel pulse sensor, controlling a transistor through a photo-coupler, interrupting, detecting key input, the repetitive learning fucntion comprises the steps of storing reel pulse when repeat key hold is off during repeat play; executing repeat play command when that key is not off; playbacking after initializing the rewind flag; rewinding if the reel pulse counter is equal to the stored reel pulse.
