PURPOSE:To easily and quickly select the page to be most preferably referred to by partially displaying contents of one of several listed-up pages and partially displaying contents of another arbitrary page in a window if necessary. CONSTITUTION:In a step S1, a character string to be retrieved is inputted by input from a keyboard or by indicating the character string in a document displayed in a display picture with a pointing device like a cursor key of the keyboard or a mouse. In a step S2, nearby data including the inputted character string is acquired. In a step S3, nearby data of the inputted character string is displayed on the display screen which refers to an electronic manual at present. In the final step S4, data before and after one nearby data are displayed all over the screen when this nearby data out of nearby data including the character string is selected. |
