The safety guard has an integral air bag (2) which automatically inflates in the event of an accident to create a three-dimensional object in front of the child. The seat belt system contributes to the crash protection sequence in synchronisation with the unfolding of the air bag. The table flap (5) and the telescopic rods (9) of the air bag container act as supports for the inflated air bag. A strap (6) is securable to the seat between the legs of the child.
