PURPOSE:To reduce a transmission time and a display time of a still picture. CONSTITUTION:In the case of initial still picture transmission, picture data are coded for each of partial areas (a)-(d) and sent and the picture data are stored. In the succeeding still picture transmission, only picture data of the partial area (d) subjected to change in comparison with the first picture data are coded as a still picture and sent. A receiver side, at the time of first still picture reception, receives the picture data for each of the partial areas (a)-(d) and stores the picture data, decodes the data and displays them. The receiver side receives picture data D and decodes the data at the time of 2nd and succeeding reception and reads the stored picture data in the areas (a)-(d) and replaces only the picture data of the partial area (d) subjected to change with the picture data D received this time and displays the entire still picture. |
