PURPOSE:To provide a character font describing device capable of storing a character font in a storage device with less data capacity by using a feature point and line segment information for the character font, automatically extracting parts constituting a character font and classifying and storing them. CONSTITUTION:A feature point group and the line segment information are obtained from an outline obtained from the character font by using an outline extraction means 1 by mutually using a feature extraction means 2 and a line segment extraction means 3. The parts constituting the character font are obtained using a character parts extraction means 4 based on the feature point group and the line segment information, and the parts are classified using a character parts classification means 5 to be stored in the storage device as the character font parts data by using a character parts storage means 6.
