PURPOSE:To provide an oxide superconductor having the twisted wire structure compact and excellent in mechanical strength by forming a superconductive unit composed of an oxide superconductive material around a volume changing portion, and covering it with a coating portion. CONSTITUTION:An oxide is composed by a heat treatment, and a superconductor unit composed of an oxide superconductive material such as Ti2Ba2Ca2Cu3Ox or the like is formed around a volume changing portion where a volume is increased, to be covered with a coating portion, thus providing an oxide superconductor. The coating portion is made of a material chemically inactive with the oxide superconducting unit in a heat treatment process, e.g. Sn, Pb, Tl, or In. The volume changing portion is made of, for example, Ti, Zr, Al, Fe, their alloys, or stainless steel. The resultant conductor constitutes a twisted wire, followed by a heat treatment. Consequently, it is possible to increase a volume of the volume changing portion so as to provide the twisted wire structure excellent in fineness and mechanical strength, thus providing a wire rod capable of achieving compactness and orientation of the oxide superconductive wire at the same time. |
