PURPOSE:To obtain a new elastomer reduced in permanent compression set and quickly recovering from strain by adding a polyfunctional epoxy compound as a crosslinking agent to a thermoplastic polyamide elastomer and extruding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:0.1-3phr polyfunctional epoxy compound (e.g. diglycidyl terephthalate) is added to a thermoplastic polyamide elastomer, and the resulting mixture is extruded, whereupon a crosslinking reaction takes place in the molding machine to give an elastomer reduced in permanent compression set and quickly recovering from strain. Any conventional polyamide elastomer is not satisfactory in respect of permanent compression set because it is not chemically crosslinked. However, since the above elastomer has the improved properties as described above, it can find wide applications in the areas where load withstading properties are necessary. Further, the operation is easy because the reaction can be accomplished in the extruder. |
