The invention concerns a system (1) for the stowage of articles, in particular bicycles (41), which has a parallelepipedal or cylindrical stowage stand (2) comprising a multiplicity of separate stowage compartments (4) located immediately adjacent to each other in the horizontal and/or vertical direction. The stowage stand (2) is surrounded by a housing (3) with at least one access opening (36) whose cross-sectional area in the plane at right angles to the direction of entry is at least equal to the maximum cross-sectional area of a stowage compartment (4). The stowage stand (2) can be moved along a vertically running guideway by a height-adjustment drive (31), the housing (3) having sufficient free space to allow the stowage stand (2) to move vertically over a distance corresponding to the height (7) of the stowage stand (2) less the height (8) of a stowage compartment (4) both above and below the access opening (36). The stowage stand (2) can preferably be rotated or swung about an axis of rotation and/or moved longitudinally along a guideway (27) running longitudinally along the length (5) of the stand (2) plus the free space beyond it, the length of the free space in the horizontal direction being equal, on each side of the access opening (36), to the length (5) of the stowage stand (2) less the width (6) of a stowage compartment (4). |
