An anti-theft device (1) permanently secured to the lever (8) of a vehicle handbrake (2), and provided with a lock (3) for selectively enabling translational actuation of a release button (5) of the handbrake (2) counter to a spring member. The device consists of a security sleeve (6) fitted over the lever (8) of the hand brake (2) and having a first portion which extends towards the hinge pin of the handbrake lever and provides a translational locking clamp supporting a translational locking and clamping assembly, as well as a second portion which extends away from the hinge pin of said lever (8) and provides a housing for the lock (3), which lock interacts with said button (5). The device is useful as a vehicle anti-theft device. |
