PURPOSE:To embody a desired oxygen-partial pressure and a desired oxygen concentration at a relatively low temperature by allowing a high-efficient gas- solid phase reaction to take place. CONSTITUTION:In relation to an oxygen transfer device used by sandwiching it between the first region having a lower oxygen-partial pressure and the second region having a higher oxygen-partial pressure and capable of transferring oxygen from the second region to the first region, this device 10 is composed of an oxide sintered material having an oxygen-deficient layered perovskite type structure represented by (A''O)n(AO)2(A'Oy)(CuO2)2...(1). Both the layers adjacent to the first and second regions of this device are respectively composed of an oxygen ion conductor 11 having a structure represented by the formula (1) satisfying 0<=<0.4 or 0.6<y<1.0 and the intermediate layers except the above-mentioned both the layers are composed of mixed ion conductors and 13 having a structure of the formula (1) represented by 0.4<=y<=0.6. [Provided that A and A' are Ca, Sr, Ba or Mg and that A'' is Bi, Pb, Tl, Hg, Cu, Fe, Zn or Ni. (n) satisfies 0<=n<=3]. |
