<p>PURPOSE:To unfold an air bag flatly as well as to make up it inexpensively. CONSTITUTION:Both peripheral parts between an upper ground fabric 15 being opposed to an occupant and a lower ground fabric 16 at the side of a steering wheel body are sealed up, forming a bagy air bag 11. Both these ground fabrics 15 and 16 are made up of plain weave consisting of nylon warp 15a, 16a and weft 15b, 16b, and each direction of those of weaving yarn 15a to 16b rotates as far as 45 degrees and these peripheral parts are sealed up. In addition, a gas inlet port 18 is formed almost in the central part of the lower ground fabric 16. In succession, both these upper and lower ground fabrics 15 and 16 are sewed up together at respective sewing parts 24 in several spots. Each sewing part 24 is formed in a direction to be crossed with any of the weaving yarn 15a to 16b. When gas is sprayed out of an inflator, the air bag 11 is flatly unfolded, and then thread of the sewing part 24 is successively cut off from a base part 25 into being inflated to the side of an occupant. Any possible extension of damage to both these upper and lower ground fabrics 15 and 16 is therefore checkable at the sewing part 24.</p> |
