PURPOSE:To protect a liquid crystal from harmful UV rays which deteriorate the liquid crystal without sticking a UV-cut film on the liquid crystal display element and to produce a thin, light-weight liquid crystal display element at low cost by using a flexible transparent substrate which absorbs or scatters UV rays to produce the liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 2 and an oriented film 3 are laminated on the one surface of a flexible transparent substrate 1, 1'. These flexible transparent substrates 1, 1' are laminated with the oriented films 3 inside, and a liquid crystal is sealed between these substrates. At least one of the flexible transparent substrates 1, 1' is preliminarily treated to have a function to absorb or scatter UV rays. Thus, such works concerning to cut UV rays as sticking UV-cut films are decreased in the production process of the liquid crystal display element and the working efficiency can be increased. Moreover, a flexible liquid crystal display element using thin, light-weight flexible transparent substrates can be produced at low cost. |
