<p>This is a socket which includes, in a body (11), a cavity (12), which is designed to receive a plug (13) and in which contact members (14) interact, and connection terminals (15) which are each individually connected to these contact members (14) by electrical conductors (16). According to the invention, the cavity (12), on the one hand, and the connection terminals (15), on the other hand, extend generally in parallel planes (P1, P2), on either side of a mid-plane (P3) perpendicular to the direction of engagement (D) of a plug (13) into the cavity (12), and the body (11) is preferentially divided up into at least two principal parts (17A, 17B), which include in one the cavity (12) and in the other part the connection terminals (15), and which are folded over each other in the form of a jackknife.
