An impeller of a hydraulic coupling or a compressor impeller of a gas turbine consists of light alloy and is cast onto a steel shaft. In order, under all operating conditions, to obtain a secure shaft/hub connection, the shaft has at least one shaped-out portion which extends in the shaft longitudinal direction and in the shaft circumferential direction, is suitable for a positive connection and produces a positive connection to the light-alloy material via the casting process.
