PURPOSE:To surely grasp the presence or the absence of a work in a laser beam machine. CONSTITUTION:A reference beam irradiation device 31 and a reference beam detection device 32 are provided on the side wall of a working head 30. A work 5 is irradiated with a reference beam by a reference beam irradiation device, and the reflected light of the work, is detected by the reference beam detection device. The detected signal is sent to a light quantity discrimination device 40. Two discriminating units 41 and 42 are provided on the light quantity discrimination device. When it is recognized by a numeral value control device 20 that a laser beam is being outputted, a switch 43 is changed over on the discriminating unit 42 side, and when it is recognized by the numeral value control device 20 that the laser beam is not being outputted, he switch 43 is changed over on the discriminating unit 41 side. Light reflected by the work, is received by the reference light detection device, its detected signal is sent to the discriminating unit 41, and the detected signal of light generated at the time of a laser beam working, is sent to the discriminating unit 42. When the laser beam is not being outputted, the presence or the absence of the work, is discriminated by the reference beam, and when the laser beam is being outputted, it is discriminated by light generated at the time of laser beam working. |
