PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material good in storage stability by providing a color forming layer containing a colorless or light-colored color forming substance and a specific compd. having a 3-halo-2-hydroxylpropyl group on a support. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material is obtained by providing a color forming layer containing a usually colorless or light-colored color forming substance and at least one kind of a compd. having a 3-halo-2-hydroxylpropyl group represented by general formula (R is an org. group, X is a halogen atom and Y is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group) on a support. A compd. having a phenolic hydroxyl group or metal carboxylate in its molecule being the compd. represented by the general formula has excellent effect as a coupler and can be used alone as a coupler/storage stabilizer. As a concrete example of the color forming substance, there is 3,3-bis (p-dimethylaminophenol)-6- dimethylaminophthalide (crystal violet lactone). |
