The novel awning is intended to have a high degree of mechanical strength as regards the connecting-rod adjusting and blocking mechanism and to offer the prerequisite for a narrow awning design, due to the suitable configuration of the awning-receiving part. The adjustment nut (45) is designed as an upright longitudinal body which is rounded spherically at its two ends and has a longitudinal axis (47) running perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal axis (44') of the connecting rod (44). Above its threaded bore (45'), the adjustment nut has a through-passage bore (49) which is intended for a blocking slide (52), extends transversely with respect to the threaded bore (45') and, towards the bearing block (16') of the receiving part (16), opens out into an open slit (50) with a smaller clear width than the diameter of the through-passage bore (49). <IMAGE>
