<p>PURPOSE: To provide a golf club shaft having many prescribed combinations of flexibility, torque, and hardness and rarely broken during a normal play. CONSTITUTION: This shaft 10 is constituted of shaft sections extended with a base rod 24, i.e., a grip section 16, an upper stretch section 36, a flexibility control section, a lower stretch section 20, and a hosel section 22. The diameter of the lower stretch section 20 is increased from its junction with the flexibility control section and becomes the maximum diameter at its junction with the hosel section 22, and this portion is preferably inserted into the recess of a club head hosel when a club is assembled. The position of the junction between the flexibility control section and the lower stretch section 20 is determined by the relative length between them and the thicknesses of them, and the relative quantities of flexibility, torque, and hardness forming the desired touch of the shaft 10 are determined by it. The shaft 10 is preferably formed with a polymer composite material internally reinforced by fibers such as carbon fibers.</p> |
